2024 MPAEF Auction Fund-a-Need

Students as Scientists in MPCSD!

MPCSD wants all students to see themselves as scientists in the making. To do this we’re excited to bring science to life by exposing our students to scientists who inspire, increasing experiential learning, and expanding our middle school science tools. Research shows that students in a hands-on science program will remember the material better, feel a sense of accomplishment when the task is completed, and be able to transfer that experience more easily to other subjects.  Our $100,000 goal will directly fund science equipment, supplies, and speakers for all school sites and students across MPCSD!

With our community’s $100,000 contribution, we will be able to fund:

  • #1: Elementary science kits: Providing supplies to all TK-5th grade teachers to expand the reach of the newly launched TWIG curriculum by putting more experiential learning opportunities in the classroom and into the hands of students.
  • #2: Scientists who inspire: MPCSD leaders will coordinate a series of speaker events at each campus that are aligned with the science modules taught in the classroom. Imagine if a botanist came to school to speak to students when they were learning about plant anatomy, structure, and life cycles to bring these topics to life and show how botany is a future career path!
  • #3: New middle school science tools: Purchasing tools such as electronic balances, a new telescope, and a 3D printer to support core science instruction taught in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Let’s put the scientific tools of today into the hands of our middle school learners!.
  • #4: Middle school robotics and engineering elective supplies:  At Hillview, funds will be used to build out the existing robotics program beyond the current LEGO robotics kits. This money will also help Hillview to build out a new engineering elective offering!

We believe that providing all students with the tools and materials to experience science throughout their elementary and middle school years is a valuable contribution that prepares them for high school and beyond.  We want all students to see themselves as scientists - now and into the future!  Please support MPCSD’s vision of "All Students Are Scientists" by making your donation to this year’s Fund-a-Need!
